Adrienne Surprenant

Every year, the Festival of Freedoms invites the public to discover artists who defend human rights, denounce injustices, and convey a different perspective on the world. Adrienne Surprenant is a Canadian photographer born in 1992 and based in France. She is a member of the MYOP Agency and Women Photograph. After studying photography, she specialized in documentary photography, dedicating herself to long-term projects. Identity, mental health, human rights, and the environment intertwine in her projects, which depict the raw reality of the world. For Adrienne Surprenant, photography is an uncompromising social commitment. The Festival of Freedoms has chosen to exhibit "South Sudan is one long poem" from her Human Stories series and "South Sudan is drowning" from her Environment Stories series.
