In 2012, filmmaker Lawrence Côté-Collins was the victim of a violent assault. Years later, she reconnects with her attacker, Billy, who was convicted of attempted murder and diagnosed with schizophrenia. From their correspondence emerges a unique dialogue, fueled by letters, court records, and footage shot by Billy, a passionate cinephile. Billy explores themes of guilt, forgiveness, and mental illness, shedding light on human lives marked by violence and resilience.
