Lebanese composer, singer and oud player Marcel Khalifé – considered Palestinian in Palestine and Lebanese in southern Lebanon – sees himself above all as an Arab musician. Accompanied by his oud, poetry’s traditional companion, Marcel Khalifé takes us back into the emotion of his masterpiece Promises of the Storm, a magnificent interpretation of Mahmoud Darwish’s poems. That was almost fifty years ago… Today, this work invites us to persevere, to intensify our commitment and, above all, never to stop denouncing violations of rights and freedoms.
